We all go through many seasons throughout our lifetime. But I think we can all agree that the waiting season has to be one of the toughest. It may feel as if your life is in limbo, and that uncertainty can lead to doubt. Doubt can be a dangerous thing, because it causes us to be impatient and make decisions that we don't fully think through. What we are saying through our actions when we doubt and try to fix things our way is "God, I don't trust you." Sure, we don't always particularly feel that way, but when we deviate from God's plan because we believe things aren't happening as fast as we would like them, it displays a lack of faith in God. We all experience doubt and uncertainty in our lives, but it is the way we react to it that tells us if we are truly trusting in God or not. If we think of the story of Abraham and Sarah, we can see that wavering faith can cause us to try and rush God's plans for us. This is always a recipe for disaster.

"When is it my turn?"
Comparison can also be a destroyer of faith. Sometimes people can be so busy longing for someone else's blessings, they lose sight of their own blessings. You must understand that what is for them, is for them, and what is for you, is for you. You should also keep in mind that you have no idea what it took for them to get where they are. Think about Job. Job lost everything and endured a great deal of suffering. But, when God restored him, he had twice as much as he had before. A lot of times, we see how someone is blessed but not the why. Their "why" may have been something that you aren't able to withstand. This is why we should only count our own blessings. Trying to count someone else's blessings could lead you to question God's plan for you. I know firsthand how being in your waiting season makes it nearly impossible not to notice things happening for others around you and feel as if you are falling behind. But you are exactly where God needs you to be. God's timing is perfect.
The waiting season is a perfect time to discover your God-given purpose. Ask God to reveal to you what you should be doing in this season. Do you need to strengthen your prayer life? Is there something you are holding onto that you should let go? This is the perfect time to acknowledge all the areas in your life that you are falling short in, and work on them. This is also the perfect time to focus on the now. Patience is a virtue that I am sure we all struggle with. Praying for patience is especially important during the waiting season.
Don't be discouraged if in all of your waiting, you feel as though you can no longer hear God's voice. Just because he isn't speaking, doesn't mean he isn't working. So don't fret. Be encouraged. The waiting season is tough and comes with many challenges, but it is essential in preparing you for what is to come. There is potential for so much growth to happen in this season. I encourage you to be thankful and look back on how God has already been blessing you and performing miracles in your life. Always remember that in the waiting, He still gets the glory.
Keep the faith-Let's pray.
The waiting season can be tough. It can feel lonely and discouraging. But trust in God's promises for you. He doesn't lie and His word never comes back void. I want to leave you with a prayer that can help you find peace in your season of waiting.
"Dear heavenly Father,
I acknowledge this season in my life with gratitude because I know you will never forsake me. I trust in your plans for me, and I trust in your timing. Continue to be my place of hope when I am feeling discouraged. Help me to overcome moments of unbelief and to trust in your word. I will continue to look to you when I am feeling low. Give me a peace that surpasses my understanding. I pray for contentment in all of my circumstances. Continue to be a guiding light in my life and direct all of my paths. I surrender all to you, Lord. I ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen."
So true. Sometimes it’s hard to have patience in the waiting season, but they that wait on the Lord SHALL renew their strength! He is always working on our behalf even when it doesn’t seem like it! Wonderful words of encouragement!
